In the postgame interview room at Husky Stadium, senior linebacker Bryce Boettcher and senior safety Dillon Thieneman wore black, green and yellow matching tee shirts that said, CCU.

In smaller letters above the logo, emblazoned above a picture of the pair in uniform celebrating Boettcher's pick at Northwestern, the shirt read, "Caucasian Collision Unit."

It's marketing genius. It captures the nostalgic energy of Butch and Sundance, "White Men Can't Jump," Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in "21 Jump Street," Kiick and Csonka. According to a Google search, the shirt is available for purchase at an apparel website called flasteeco.com. The NIL era finally has a sense of humor.

Boettcher, Thieneman back up promotional hype with big-game play

Boettcher and Thieneman are No. 5 and No. 40 in the Big Ten in tackles with 104 and 64 this season. It's a good thing if a team's safety has fewer tackles than the inside linebacker. Thieneman ranged deep at the end of the Husky game to snatch an interception on a desperation heave by Demond Williams.

The pair appeared at the postgame interview table with quarterback Dante Moore. Moore said, "I don't have a shirt by the way."

Boettcher chuckled. "We're going to get Dante a shirt by the way."

"CCU is an abbreviation for Caucasian Collision Unit. We've been thinking about this for a while. You know, being that DT got on the team, so we've kind of been brewing and his brother helped us out with making a shirt, so it's fitting that we wore it today."

Thieneman transferred in the offseason from Purdue, where he had 210 tackles in two years. It's a bad thing if the safety makes all the tackles.

Chances are there will be a few thousand in the stands when the Ducks take on their playoff opponent in Autzen Stadium on December 20 or 21.

In Oregon's 26-14 win in Husky Stadium, Boettcher led the defense with 10 tackles and two quarterback hurries. Thieneman was next with seven, a tackle for loss and the Ducks' second interception.

The Ducks held Washington quarterback to 15-30 passing for 129 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Known as a dangerous scrambler, they bracketed him in the pocket, sacking him four times with four quarterback hurries, holding him to 10 rushing attempts for a net 27 yards.

Williams was rattled, harassed and ineffective, his worst game since his first start at Autzen Stadium as a freshman last year. Washington averaged 4.49 yards per play with the two turnovers, their worst offensive performance since the Ohio State game in September. The CCU did its job.
