It wasn't a great weekend for Ducks in the NFL. Justin Herbert, Bucky Irving, Dillon Gabriel, Jordan Burch, Jackson Powers-Johnson and Tez Johnson all lost. Marcus Mariota, Josh Conerly and the Commanders lost to Michael Penix and the Falcons. Michael Penix! The horror.

Somewhere someone has an all-Oregon fantasy football team and they're in a lot of pain Tuesday morning, but they got a lift Monday night in Denver. Bo Nix, Troy Franklin and the Denver Broncos crushed Jake Browning and the Cincinnati Bengals 28-3.

Browning was so pathetic he probably slumped on the sideline bench with his hands behind his head, 14-25 passing for a paltry 125 yards, sacked three times. Heisman Trophy finalist Nix was scintillating. The Broncos led 21-3 at halftime and cruised to victory, evening their season record at 2-2.

Nix ran for a touchdown in the first quarter and threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns, 29-42 passing. Troy Franklin hauled in four of those passes, for 55 yards.

In four games this season Nix has thrown for seven touchdowns with four interceptions. He's piled up 861 passing yards with eight total TDs.

After the win in Mile High Stadium, Broncos head coach Sean Payton said of his second-year quarterback, β€œHe did a really good job getting through his progressions. That was real impressive.”

Next up for Nix and his teammates is perhaps the NFL's toughest assignment. This Sunday October 5 they travel to Philadelphia to face Jalen Hurts and the Super Bowl Champion Eagles, 10 a.m. PT on CBS.
