Football is family, and it often shows through in tough times, as players and coaches know what their counterparts are going through at all times. Oregon went through an incredibly tough moment when Dante Moore was injured in the USC game; a scary hit to the head/neck area led to him being carted off the field and into an ambulance, where he was taken to the hospital for a concussion.

While Dan Lanning and the Oregon staff were doing all that they could to check on Moore, and make sure he was healthy, others were looking out for the quarterback. Before facing off against the Ducks next week, UCLA head coach Bob Chesney made an incredible offer to Dan Lanning, which the Ducks head coach revealed on The Jim Rome Show.

"He [Bob Chesney] texted me as they were traveling back to LA and said, 'Hey, if you need my help with Dante or anything and he's still in LA, I'll go check on this guy. I'm giving the team off tomorrow; let me know.' It speaks to the kind of person he is."

Bob Chesney's classy offering shows he'll turn UCLA around

Head coaches constantly have a ton on their minds, and Bob Chesney was in the middle of traveling cross country from Maryland back to California. Instead of being focused on reviewing tape from the game or starting to prepare for Oregon, Bob Chesney was willing to drop everything to check in on an opposing player and help out in any way that he could.

Dan Lanning and Bob Chesney certainly have a ton of respect for each other, and it shows in the gesture by the UCLA head coach and the way Lanning talks about UCLA. The two head coaches faced off last season to start the College Football Playoff, with the Ducks beating James Madison, but it wasn't without a fight.

UCLA becoming a solid program again is a threat to Oregon, but it's impossible not to root for Bob Chesney. The Bruins' head coach got his first head coaching gig in Division III before climbing to Division II, FCS, and eventually FBS with James Madison, before getting his first Power 4 job at UCLA. Chesney has worked his way up the ladder everywhere he's been, and the level of success he's had demands respect.

The ability of Chesney is already shining through at UCLA as the Bruins are already 4-0 with a 2-0 record in Big Ten play, a year after firing their head coach 3 games into the season. Dan Lanning compared the Bruins to Indiana on Wednesday, and with Chesney picking up on the Cignetti method at James Madison, the resemblance is there.

UCLA's hot start under Chesney hasn't been a fluke as the Bruins already look like a real threat in the Big Ten, and they've picked up some notable wins. The Ducks are going to have to battle to take down the Bruins, and moving forward there isn't going to be an easy game against a Bob Chesney led UCLA program.

Oregon fans won't be able to root for UCLA next Saturday, but from then on out, Bob Chesney will have a ton of love and respect coming from Eugene.
