Breaking down the Oregon Ducks' 2025 football schedule

Before the No. 1 Oregon Ducks even truly began their postseason campaign at the Rose Bowl Game in the College Football Playoffs, the team announced its 2025 football schedule. From old rivals to new stadiums, the Ducks' are ready for another year of hard-hitting, high-level football.

The Ducks have three non-conference matchups during the regular season next year and nine Big Ten games – including three games against former Pac-12 opponents. Here is a breakdown of every Oregon football game in 2025:

vs. Montana State – Aug. 30

The Oregon Ducks have played Montana State just once in their history (1947) and walked away with a 27-14 victory.

vs. Oklahoma State – Sept. 6

The Ducks have also played the Oklahoma State Cowboys just once (2008 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl). Oregon defeated OK State 42-31 in the postseason matchup.

at Northwestern (Big Ten) – Sept. 13

In 1974, the Ducks played Northwestern for the first and only time in their history. Northwestern walked away with the win (10-14). Now, the teams share a conference but did not share a field in 2024. The regular-season matchup in 2025 will be the first time the two Big Ten opponents see each other in conference play.

vs. Oregon State – Sept. 20

The long-lived, in-state rivalry is still going strong, despite the Oregon State Beavers staying behind in the Pac-12 when Oregon left for the Big Ten. Throughout their rivalry, the Ducks have won 68 times, the Beavers have won 51 times, and the two teams have tied 10 times. In 2024, Oregon blew the doors off of Oregon State, winning 49-14 in Corvallis.

at Penn State (Big Ten) – Sept. 27

At the end of the 2024 season, Oregon played Penn State in the Big Ten Championship game (winning 45-37) which was just the fifth-ever matchup between the two teams. In 2025, the Ducks and the Nittany Lions will face each other during the regular season.

vs. Indiana (Big Ten) – Oct. 11

Oregon didn't play against Indiana in the 2024 regular season but the two teams could meet in the College Football Playoffs. The two teams have played each other three times in the past and Oregon lays claim to two of the three wins.

at Rutgers (Big Ten) – Oct. 18

Rutgers is another Big Ten team that the Ducks did not face during their first season in the conference. In fact, the two teams have never shared a collegiate football field. This game, in New Jersey, will be the first-ever game between the Oregon Ducks and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

vs. Wisconsin (Big Ten) – Oct. 25

The Wisconsin Badgers nearly knocked down the perfect Ducks during the 2024 regular season but Oregon pulled off the win to advance to 11-0 overall. Just a few years earlier (2020), the Ducks defeated the Badgers in the Rose Bowl Game.

Oregon and Wisconsin have played each other in football seven times in the past. While Wisconsin won the first three matchups between the two teams, Oregon is currently on a four-game winning streak over the Badgers.

at Iowa (Big Ten) – Nov. 8

Visiting Iowa is always special, for any team, because of the Hawkeye Wave: "When the Kinnick clock hits zero, at the end of the first quarter, 70,000+ football fans turn their attention from the field to UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital."

Oregon didn't play the Hawkeyes in 2024 but will get to visit the Iowa stadium in 2025. The two teams have played three times in the past and Oregon won two of the matchups.

vs. Minnesota (Big Ten) – Nov. 15

Somewhat surprisingly, the Ducks and the Minnesota Gophers have played each other four times in football. Even more surprisingly, the Gophers walked away victorious from three of the games while the Ducks won just once.

The 2025 regular season matchup will be the first time the two teams have shared a field since 2003 when Minnesota defeated Oregon (31-30) in the Sun Bowl.

vs. USC (Big Ten) – Nov. 22

One of the three other former Pac-12 teams that moved to the Big Ten with Oregon, the USC Trojans have been another long-lived rival of the Ducks. The two teams didn't play against each other in 2024 so the 2025 matchup will be the first between the two as Big Ten opponents.

Oregon and USC have played 64 times in the past. The Ducks have won 23 times, the Trojans have won 39 times, and the two teams have tied twice.

at Washington (Big Ten) – Nov. 29

The final former Pac-12 opponent (and another that joined the Big Ten) of the 2025 season for the Oregon Ducks will be rival Washington. The Huskies had a choke hold on Dan Lanning and the Ducks until the 2024 season when the Ducks demolished them 49-21 in the final game of the regular season.

Throughout history, the Huskies have won 63 times in the rivalry game while Oregon has won just 49 times. The two have tied five times in the past.
