The Oregon Ducks made a splash in the NFL with a few rookies quickly becoming standout stars during their first season in the league. Bo Nix led the Denver Broncos to their first Playoff appearance in a decade, Evan Williams appeared on PFF's All-Rookie team, and now running back Bucky Irving has earned All-Rookie honors of his own.
Irving was named to the PFF All-Rookie team, alongside Williams and fellow former Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson, and now the running back has been named to the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-Rookie roster as well.
Powers-Johnson also earned a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie team after his season for the Las Vegas Raiders as well as Williams for his first year for the Green Bay Packers. However, Irving's standout rookie season was truly one for the books.
Bucky Irving's NFL rookie season stats
- 1,122 rushing yards
- 8 rushing touchdowns
- 47 receptions
- 392 receiving yards
- 1 receiving touchdown
In Tampa Bay's singular Playoff game at the end of the season, Irving scored his first-ever postseason touchdown in the NFL on a four-yard pass from Buccaneers' quarterback Baker Mayfield.
The former Duck also led the rookie running backs in receiving yards with his 392 yards through the air this season, which was the sixth most on the Buccaneers' offense. Irving played in less than 35 percent of Tampa Bay's offensive snaps this season, as veteran running back Rachaad White played most of the stats for the Bucs.
Disappointingly, Nix did not earn a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie team, edged out by former LSU Tiger and Heisman-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels who has led the Washington Commanders to the NFC Championship game.
Both Irving and Nix received nominations as finalists for the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year after their historic first seasons in the NFL.
