The first game of the season every year can be a bit of a concern, as every fan learns about the injuries the team has dealt with through the fall and how serious the injuries may be. When the Ducks took the field for warmups and transfer wide receiver Iverson Hooks was in street clothes, it was instantly a concern, as he was healthy coming into game week.
While the Ducks were able to survive playing the trio of Evan Stewart, Jeremiah McClellan, and Dakorien Moore for most of the game, eventually you would like to be able to rotate players in and out of the lineup at wide receiver. Heading into the Oklahoma State game, it looks like the Ducks may have that opportunity.
Dan Lanning believes Iverson Hooks will make Oregon debut in Week 2
On Monday, Dan Lanning spoke to the press about turning the page from the Boise State game and looking toward the Oklahoma State game. During the press conference, Dan Lanning spoke about the health of his wide receivers, where he provided a promising update on Iverson Hooks.
"Iverson [Hooks] kind of tweaked his hamstring in the middle of last week, so just wasn't able to go full strength. Think we'll have him back this week."Dan Lanning
Hearing that Iverson Hooks' injury was only a tweaked hamstring is great news for the Ducks, as it should allow him to make a quick return to the lineup. Hamstrings are always tricky for wide receivers, but it's nice that the Ducks will have another tune-up game next weekend against Portland State if he needs to get rest.
Getting Iverson Hooks back in the lineup for the Oklahoma State game would be great for the Ducks, as the starting trio played all, but 2 snaps on Saturday, when Messiah Hampton came into the game. Dakorien Moore got banged up at the end of the Boise State game as well, so it would be nice to give him a lighter workload in this game if he's not 100%.
Iverson Hooks transferred to Oregon from UAB where he spent 4 seasons playing for the Blazers. The 2025 season was a breakout year for Hooks as he caught 72 passes for 927 yards and 7 touchdowns.
