The action in the 2027 recruiting cycle has slowed down for the Oregon Ducks, and the rest of the college football world as official visit season has come to an end. The focus now for Oregon and coaches around the country is turning toward the 2028 recruiting class. While the recruits are more than a year away from signing with a program, building relationships early is key.
One of Oregon's top recruits Cam Pritchett committed to the Ducks last June and has stuck with the commitment thanks to the staff's early relationship. As the Oregon Ducks look to kick off their 2028 recruiting class, Dan Lanning and the coaching staff are looking close to him with their relationships.

As the Oregon Ducks look to land their first commitment in the 2028 recruiting class, the staff has made in-state tight end Presley DeLance a priority. After the Ducks got DeLance on campus this Summer, Oregon is firmly in the mix for the tight end.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Presley DeLance is the 349th ranked player in the Country, the 15th ranked tight end in the class, and the top player in the state of Oregon. Comparing the 2028 rankings to the 2027 rankings, DeLance would be the 2nd ranked player in the state, trailing only Oregon CB commit Josiah Molden.
In recent years, Oregon hasn't place much of a priority on landing in-state recruits, but that's changing as of late. The 2027 recruiting class alone has seen the Ducks land commitments from 4 in-state recruits. One of those recruits is DeLance's teammate at Lake Oswego, edge rusher Josh Christensen.
Over the next year, Oregon will hope to continue making a push for the in-state recruits, and that the early relationship pays off. The Ducks will continue landing the elite blue-chip recruits, but hitting on talent in your backyard and developing lower-ranked recruits is arguably even more important.
