The busiest time of the year on the recruiting trail is about to kick off for the Oregon Ducks as Dan Lanning and Company enter Official Visit season. Starting this weekend, Dan Lanning and the staff will bring elite groups of recruits onto campus on a weekly basis with the hopes of building an elite recruiting class.

As things currently stand, Oregon heads into the first weekend of official visit season with the Nation's 9th ranked recruiting class. While finishing with the 9th ranked class would be a fine finish, Dan Lanning has made a tradition out of signing top 5 classes Nationally which should signal an exciting Summer ahead.

On Wednesday, Oregon got great news from one of their newest targets in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

In-State recruiting target George VanSandt decommits from Arkansas

Earlier in May, the Oregon Ducks extended a scholarship offer to In-State tight end recruit George VanSandt.

While George VanSandt committed to Arkansas back in April, it's never too late to enter into a recruitment, especially for an In-State recruit. Entering into VanSandt's recruitment proved to be great on Wednesday Afternoon when the new target for the Ducks announced that he was decommitting from Arkansas.

VanSandt reopening his recruitment is great news for Oregon in this recruiting cycle as the Ducks continue to look for a commitment at tight end. The most likely outcome for the Ducks in this cycle appears to be signing one High School tight end while adding a depth piece or two in the Transfer Portal to replace the veterans.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, George VanSandt is a 3-star recruit ranked as the 1,109th ranked player in the Country, the 58th ranked tight end in the class, and the 2nd ranked player out of Oregon. While VanSandt is ranked low, his stock has started to rise heavily over the offseason, and his ranking should start to soar once the recruiting services update their rankings.

At 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, VanSandt is a big tight end prospect who fits the mold of what the Ducks typically look for. On film, VanSandt stands out with both his blocking and receiving ability which could make him an exciting piece for the Ducks to look and develop.

The next step for Oregon will be trying to get VanSandt on campus for an official visit if the Ducks are looking to land a commitment. Over the past two drafts, Oregon has produced a 1st and 2nd round pick at the position, and if Jamari Johnson lives up to the expectations this season, the Ducks will quickly be in the "Tight End U" debate.
