Dan Lanning's comments on Evan Stewart are exactly what Oregon fans wanted to hear

The Oregon Ducks took the stage on Wednesday in Chicago as the team was on full display at Big Ten Media Days. Heading into the season, Oregon is being put on the shortlist of National Championship front runners. Thanks to stars like Dante Moore, Matayo Uiagalelei, and A’Mauri Washington returning for one final season, the Ducks have the high-end talent that a team needs to win the National Championship.

While the Ducks biggest stars continue to get the majority of the attention, one of the most important pieces continues to fly under the radar. After missing all of last season with injury, wide receiver Evan Stewart returns looking to re-gain his status as one of the best players in the Country.

Dan Lanning’s hype for Evan Stewart should have every fan fired up

If the Ducks are going to go on a run to the National Championship this season, Evan Stewart is going to need to have a big role in the offense. While fans hope that Evan Stewart will return to form, the way that Dan Lanning spoke about his star wide receiver should have every fan fired up for his potential this season.

When asked on The Pat McAfee Show about a player outside of Dante Moore who can take a big leap on the field and as a leader, Lanning spoke on his veteran wide receiver.

"Evan Stewart has had a really good offseason, and he was out for us last year, he was injured during the year, but I’m really excited about what Evan can bring to our team this year. We have a lot of great players so it’s unfair for me to pick one, but he’s had a great offseason and I’m excited to see what he can create this year."

During the 2024 season, Evan Stewart was incredible for the Ducks catching 48 passes for 613 yards and 5 touchdowns before his injury. Stewart has shown his potential against the biggest opponents with 7 catches for 149 yards and a touchdown in the win over Ohio State during the regular season.

Any concerns over Evan Stewart’s physical ability post injury should be erased as he looked better than ever during the Spring Game.

The Ducks have a deep wide receiver core as Dakorien Moore and Jeremiah McClellan return after promising seasons while 5-star recruits Gatlin Bair and Jalen Lott join the fold. Stewart won’t need to carry the offense as the go-to wide receiver, but he will need to be a weapon that Dante Moore can turn to for big plays if this is going to be a magical season for the Ducks.
