The Oregon Ducks are in full recruiting mode, as around the country programs are starting to land major commitments again. This weekend marks the second weekend of official visits for the Ducks, and as Dan Lanning looks to sign another top 5 recruiting class, Oregon is going to need some big commitments, as the class currently ranks 9th.

The first weekend of official visits showed a ton of promise for the Ducks as elite linebacker recruit Toa Satele committed while several other recruits gave promising recaps. The biggest recruit Oregon fans hoped the Ducks would land was elite edge rusher KJ Green who declared that Oregon "broke the bar" in his recruitment.

It turns out that the broken bar didn't mean much for Oregon's prospects

This weekend, KJ Green took his official visit to LSU, which always raises alarms about how Lane Kiffin is recruiting. Earlier this week, 5-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant flipped from LSU to Miami, which gave the Tigers a massive need for a new elite edge rusher with Green coming to town. The Tigers were already in the battle for Green, and this weekend, the Tigers won the battle, landing a commitment from the star pass rusher.

The battle won't be over for Oregon, but this is a major setback for Dan Lanning and the Ducks as Green was pretty clearly the Ducks top target at the position who wasn't already committed. If there's one silver lining in this, it's the fact that Green already took his Oregon official visit which means if he stops taking visits, he'll still have the Eugene trip in the back of his mind.

According to 24/7 Sports, KJ Green is the 8th ranked player in the country, the 2nd ranked edge rusher in the class, and the 2nd ranked player out of Georgia. The original plan was for KJ Green to announce his commitment on August 8th, but that plan clearly changed.

Oregon now needs to pivot, and find another edge rusher to pair with 4-star Rashad Streets in this class. The Ducks are currently hosting 3-star Achilles Reyna on an official visit while in-state 3-star Josh Christensen will visit later on this summer.

If the Ducks want to get really creative, the staff can start to look for a flip with one of the top edge rushers with Green included. David Jacobs is the top target the Ducks could pursue after having him on campus this spring, but Ohio State already holds the commitment while Miami continues to push for a flip.
