The Oregon Ducks had an incredible summer on the recruiting trail as Dan Lanning and the coaching staff built out the class to the point it reached the top 5 of the class rankings. After the end of Official Visit season, recruiting the 2027 class has slowed down, but the Ducks will look to start building their 2028 recruiting class.
Oftentimes, the first domino to fall in any recruiting cycle starts with the quarterbacks as they typically arrive at a decision before anyone else. Schools and coaches build their recruiting classes, around the star quarterback as they most often commit heading into their Junior season or after the year.
The Oregon Ducks have built a nice pipeline at quarterback with Will Mencl committed in this cycle, Dylan Raiola waiting behind Dante Moore along with Brock Thomas and Akili Smith Jr waiting in the wings. It appears that the Ducks next addition to a bright future at the quarterback position could be on the horizon.
Oregon lands prediction for elite quarterback recruit Josiah Boyd
Earlier this Summer, the Oregon coaching staff offered elite 2028 quarterback recruit Josiah Boyd a scholarship while he was on campus. After Josiah Boyd was offered by the coaching staff, he spoke to Rivals' Greg Biggins declaring that Oregon has always been his dream school.

It looks as if Josiah Boyd is becoming a top target for the Ducks, and that there's mutual interest on both sides. On Thursday Night, Rivals' Brandon Huffman and Greg Biggins each logged a prediction for the Oregon Ducks to land Josiah Boyd.
According to Rivals' industry Recruiting Rankings, Josiah Boyd is the 62nd ranked player in the Country, the 5th ranked quarterback in the class, and the 4th ranked player out of California.
The sooner you can get a quarterback on board the better as he can help the coaching staff start to recruit other players to Eugene. A quarterback like Josiah Boyd won't have any problem recruiting other playmakers to surround him as he's very clearly an elite talent with a great chance to end the 2028 recruiting cycle as a 5-star recruit.
Josiah Boyd is 6-foot-4 and 175 pounds with impressive dual threat ability which will only get better as he gains experience. This past season, Josiah Boyd passed for 2,620 yards and 19 touchdowns with just 3 interceptions while adding 462 yards and 9 scores on the ground.
There's very clearly plenty of work left for the Ducks to seal the deal and land a commitment before also getting Josiah Boyd to campus. Dan Lanning and the coaching staff will need to keep up their efforts for Boyd as he's drawn a large field of suitors who will give the Ducks plenty of competition the rest of the way.
