The Oregon Basketball team is coming off a season to forget as injuries and holes in the roster led to the worst record of Dana Altman's tenure as the Ducks finished 12-20 with a 5-15 record in Big Ten play. This offseason, Dana Altman has went to work, rebuilding the roster via the Transfer Portal to give the Ducks the best chance to rebound and compete for the NCAA Tournament again next season.
For most of the offseason, when you've looked at the Oregon Basketball roster, it's appeared that there's still room to add players as the Ducks have 13 pieces set in stone. While Dana Altman could've rushed to build the full 15 player roster, the staff clearly saw a potential trending down the line, and it could be panning out perfectly for the Ducks.
Oregon zeroing in on Villanova transfer Duke Brennan amid eligibility case
When it looked as if college sports were moving to the 5-for-5 eligibility model, everyone saw the potential for Seniors to sue for one more season of eligibility. A group of players in Ohio were the first to act, and they won their case which has shown everyone that it's now a potential path to return. Among the players who are now pushing for another season of eligibility is Villanova forward Duke Brennan.
On Thursday, 24/7 Sports analyst Dushawn London reported that the Ducks have zeroed in on Duke Brennan pending approval of his eligibility waiver.

Landing Duke Brennan from Villanova would be ironic in a sense as the Ducks would practically be completing a trade after the Wildcats added former Oregon forward Kwame Evans Jr earlier in the offseason.
Duke Brennan was a star for Villanova last season, starting all 32 games while averaging 12.4 points per game with 10.3 rebounds per game. Brennan is a Chandler, Arizona native who started his career at Arizona State before spending two seasons at Grand Canyon before his stellar season with the Wildcats.
The NBA Draft didn't go the way that Duke Brennan would've hoped as he didn't hear his name called, and joined the Brooklyn Nets for Summer League.
Adding Duke Brennan to this roster would be incredible, and it give the Ducks a big piece to lean on in the frontcourt. Sean Stewart returns at center for the Ducks while Taylor Bol Bowen transfers in from Alabama, but the rest of the forwards lack the sheer size or experience that Duke Brennan would bring at 6-foot-10.
The goal now for the Ducks is hoping that Duke Brennan's waiver is approved, and that he can quickly join the program. Dana Altman has built an incredibly fun group for next season, and with the NCAA Tournament field expanding, the Ducks should quickly find themselves back to playing high-stakes basketball in March.
