For moments on Saturday, it looked like the Oregon Ducks could be victims of the first major upset of the college football season against Boise State. The 2nd ranked Ducks instead battled to hang on, taking a 7-point lead in the 4th quarter and getting the defensive stops needed to secure a win.
While the Ducks didn’t play their best game, things could’ve been worse for Oregon. Michigan for example was gifted a win over Western Michigan because the officials somehow decided that 1 second should be added back onto the clock allowing the Wolverines to win on a Hail Mary.
The mind-blowing, controversial Western Michigan-Michigan finish.

Dave Portnoy blasts Oregon in attempts to make Michigan's gifted win look better
Big Noon Kickoff contributor and Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is probably the biggest Michigan Wolverines fan in the media. Portnoy was publicly involved in getting Bryce Underwood to flip from LSU to Michigan so he was certainly going through it on Saturday Night as his prized QB struggled like we saw last season.
Even Dave Portnoy knew the game should've been over as he tweeted that the Wolverines lost before the extra second was added to the clock.

After Michigan converted the Hail Mary, Portnoy has been all over social media arguing that the officials made the right decision and also trying to make it seem like Michigan's game wasn't that bad. On Sunday, Dave Portnoy aimed at the Ducks, saying that nobody cares about Oregon struggling while also calling Boise State a worse team than Western Michigan.
You know what is amazing with all this misguided Michigan hate. Oregon who is a trendy national title pick struggled with arguably a worse team in Boise than WMU. But they dont have the Block M so nobody cares

Saying that nobody cares about Oregon is a wild statement, as it seemed everyone in the media was coming out to root for Boise State when the Ducks were on upset alert, including...Portnoy's employees.

Calling Boise State a worse team than Western Michigan is also an absurd statement considering the Broncos recent success. Boise State has won the Mountain West in each of Spencer Danielson's 3 seasons leading the Broncos, while Lance Taylor has gone 20-19 in the same time span at Western Michigan.
The fact of the matter is that Dave Portnoy wishes that everyone would look away from the fact that he was involved in giving a recruit the largest NIL deal ever, and the player turned out to be a massive bust. You can't claim to know everything about football, and be an "expert" like Portnoy, and have the failure of Bryce Underwood on your resume.
Michigan was once a proud program, but after the cheating scandal and the Sherrone Moore saga, the Wolverines are grasping at straws for anything that will make them look good. The company line at Michigan should be that while they won, they need to improve quickly, but instead they'll continue pretending like they're an elite program.
