August 2nd is decision day for defensive tackle Deuce Geralds and elite cover corner Davon Benjamin, two of the top remaining uncommitted recruits in the 2026 class.

The latest buzz and murmurs have Geralds deciding for LSU, with Davon Benjamin sticking with the Ducks. Geralds announcement is set for noon PT, Benjamin at 4 p.m. PT.

It's been a tough recruiting battle for Geralds, the No. 95 recruit and No. 11 defensive tackle, 6-2, 275 from Suwanee, Georgia. His father played center at Ole Miss. The Tigers have reportedly pulled ahead in the last few days.

Geralds beats opponents off the line and possesses a wicked spin move. He could thrive in LSU's great defensive tackle tradition and thrive on the bigtime exposure in the SEC.

August 1 marks the first day that schools can make specific scholarship offers to 2026 recruits with revenue-sharing details. Financial details can be discussed and offered in the form of a contract, though players can't sign until early signing day in December.

Geralds' deal in Baton Rouge will be lucrative. The Ducks can't and don't try to win every player, though The Deuce's quickness and strength make him highly coveted.

Out in Westlake, California at Oaks Christian High School, Davon Benjamin might be the most technically sound defensive back in the country, ranked a five-star safety by the 247 Sports Composite, a four star cornerback by On3 Sports. The sites agree that he's 170 pounds; one measures him at 5-11.5, the other at an even six feet.

He plays tall. Benjamin picked off six passes last year and returned three for touchdowns. He caught 34 passes on offense. He'd be a good fit in an Oregon secondary of ballhawks, another highly-rated recruit who takes training and preparation seriously.

For his YouTube feature Benjamin said, "The key to being a successful football player is you've got to be determined, you've got to be very disciplined, and you've got to know this is what you want to do."

That sounds like a Dan Lanning player. His other top choices are Washington, Texas, Michigan, and North Carolina

He fits the culture, not that Geralds wouldn't. Expect a split decision tomorrow, respecting both of them, celebrating the one who takes his talents to That Team Out West.

In other recruiting news, Oregon decommit Viliami Moala announced a commitment to North Carolina after decommitting from the Ducks back in July.
