Mason Neville crushed a grand slam homer in the fourth inning as No. 16 Oregon completed their four-game road trip with a 12-1 win over the Hoyas Monday morning at Cooper Field in Washington D.C.
Carter Garate added another grand slam in the 7th to push the Ducks over the run-rule limit. He went 2-3 with five RBI.
Ian Umlandt put together another strong outing on the mound for Mark Wasikowski's staff, a complete-game four-hitter, walking two and striking out six. Coupled with Jason Reitz's seven-inning, 11-strikeout performance yesterday, it suggests that the Oregon pitchers are rounding into form a bit after control trouble earlier in the month.

For Neville his blast to right field was his 17th of the year, tying Grant Gallagher of East Tennessee State for tops in the NCAA.

Plate discipline has been a big factor in Oregon's success this season and in particular this weekend as they put together a three of four road trip, taking two of three from Maryland in College Park. Monday the Ducks waited out six Georgetown pitchers for 11 walks, taking the opponents deep in the count and getting favorable pitches to hit.
Third baseman Garrate's grand slam came on a 2-2 pitch after Anson Arroz, Burke-Lee Mabeus and Parker Stinson walked, then Ryan Cooney drove in one with a single. Mabeus drew three of the free passes, 1-1 at the plate with an RBI.

The bottom of the lineup did a lot of the damage with Mabeus, Cooney and Garate combining for four of the Ducks seven hits and seven RBI.
Now 25-10 and 12-6 in the Big Ten, the Ducks return to action Friday with a three-game series at PK Park versus first-place UCLA, atop the conference at 12-3. The Bruins are currently No. 10 in the NCAA DI baseball rankings, a few places ahead of UO at 16.
