Dillon Gabriel, Dan Lanning, and Oregon entered Saturday night's game with the expectation to blow the doors off of Maryland, but the Terrapins put up a really good fight.

The Terrapins kept things within two scores in the fourth quarter and while that's not going to win the Ducks any brownie points from the College Football Playoff selection committee, they're still likely to hold on to that No. 1 spot because of that head-to-head win over Ohio State.

Still, the game didn't quite go as planned for the Ducks.

But the Ducks' Heisman-contending quarterback was chasing an NCAA record on Saturday night against Maryland and he actually broke it with his 179th all-time touchdown. He became the NCAA's all-time leader for total touchdowns, according to Oregon football's Twitter account.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise because Gabriel showed the ability to run with and pass the ball early in his career at UCF and then he went to Oklahoma for a couple of seasons and put up some video game-like numbers there, too. And now through nine-plus games in his final year with Oregon, he's passed for over 20 touchdowns and has six rushing. He's looking like one of the top Heisman candidates this season and that would be a heck of a way to cap his college career.

Gabriel broke that all-time record on Saturday night against Maryland and while it's a cool achievement, he'd be the first to say that he's more worried about the team's goals of a Big Ten title and a national championship.

Still, pretty cool to have the NCAA's all-time leading touchdown scorer call Eugene home.
