Dillon Gabriel took over an impossible job and now he's failing to do the impossible.
As an NFL rookie he took over at quarterback for a last-place team with a long history of failure at the quarterback position, and since being named the starter in Week 5 against Minnesota it's gone exactly as it was supposed to. The Browns have lost three of four, and now fans are howling for Shedeur Sanders.
Sunday morning at New England, the Oregon Heisman finalist completed 21-35 passes for 156 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions as the Browns fell 32-13 to the Patriots, sacked once.
Fans blasted the Mililani, Hawaii native for an ill-advised throwaway in his own end zone. With the pocket breaking down he threw to no one in the right flat, resulting in an intentional grounding penalty and a safety.
With the team trailing 16-7 in the third quarter he forced a pass into coverage over the middle, intercepted by Robert Spillane and returned all the way to the Cleveland 6.

Being the face of a downtrodden franchise is not easy. Gabriel's getting roasted on social media and on the sports talk radio shows, convinced that Sanders is certain to be an upgrade.
Despite the torrent of criticism he's remained upbeat and classy. After the game he said, “I cant wait to regroup after the bye and get back out there”
He threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to tight end Harold Fannin in the first quarter and an 11-yard TD to David Njoku in the fourth, but it just wasn't enough, particularly when the Browns rushed for only 68 yards on 16 carries, 13 of that on a scramble by Gabriel.
