Odds and point spreads are offered for entertainment purposes only.
At FanDuel, Oregon is +1200 to win the national title, meaning that a $100 bet would pay $1300 if the Ducks won their first-ever national title, a $1200 profit plus the original bet.
However if a downed runner gets to get up because there's no whistle or Tosh Lupoi gets horribly outschemed by the Ohio State offensive coordinator, it pays nothing. Odds and point spreads are unforgiving, as is football itself.
Only one team gets the confetti and the big trophy. Casinos build those lavish halls for a reason.
For Oregon's opener against Montana State in just 19 days, the Ducks are a 25.5-point favorite, nearly four touchdowns. They're favored by 13.5 when they host USC in November.
The Ducks haven't lost a home opener since Indiana in 2004, a disastrous game in which they committed 7 turnovers and lost 30-24 despite outgaining the Hoosiers 495-198. Since then they've lost neutral-site openers to Georgia, Auburn and LSU, and a 2009 road game at Boise State where they didn't make a first down until the third quarter.
A reminder to bet with caution, and remember that football games can go horribly, horribly wrong.
Highlight of the night!
