In a new documentary short "The Locker Room" released Tuesday by Fanatics Dillon Gabriel, Terrance Ferguson and other NFL rookies get custom jerseys from NFL legends like Barry Sanders, Tom Brady and Jerry Rice, autographed with a personal message.
Second-round draft pick for Rams, Terrance Ferguson calls his inscribed jersey from three-time Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews, "Probably the coolest thing I have now." Though the sentiment is genuine that can't be literally true: Ferguson is a newlywed who got married shortly before training camp began.
But the video is cool. The players talk about the dream of making it to the NFL while their heroes talk about their journey to the top of the game. Andrews said to Ferguson, "Man, you've got a big fan over here. I'm wishing you nothing but the best."
The jersey exchange is a staple of on-field greetings between players after a game, but getting one with a personal message from a Hall of Famer is something else indeed.
Gabriel said, "I'm excited. You can give my all."
"Take care of this game, and it will take care of you," Marcus Allen said.
The morale boost came at a great time for Ferguson, who missed practice today with a groin strain while trying to earn a role in the Rams offense. Setbacks and adversity are part of the pro journey with the first full week of preseason games coming this weekend.
