A five-star prospect in the 247 Sports Composite, Oregon commit Kendre Harrison tore up the Nike EYBL Summer Slam Classic Saturday, powering inside against elite competition for 19 points and 10 rebounds
Harrison won Player of the Game honors as a team sponsored by NBA point guard Chris Paul beat Bradley Beal's squad 82-69.
The Reidsville, North Carolina phenom is the nation's No. 2 tight end in football and the No. 20 overall prospect while also being a legitimate Top 60 prospect in basketball at 6-7, 243. He committed to the Ducks on November 30 and shut down his recruitment this spring.
The football/basketball double is potent for athletic big men, particularly for left tackles and tight ends. It can build the hands and body control it takes to become elite in both sports.

Harrison told ESPN he's sold Oregon, "The relationship I've built with the school is good, he said. "I trust them. My family trusts them. I've been in the recruiting process since I was in the eighth grade. They did the little things in the recruitment that mattered."
His Reidsville High basketball team is 86-1 with a 60-game winning streak, two-time state champions. In three varsity seasons in football he's caught 112 passes for 1,758 yards and 29 TDs, state champions in 2023, ousted in the playoffs by J.H. Rose last November 27-26.
Reid wants to play both sports in college. "Football kind of took over. I'm trying to hold on to my basketball dream as much as I can."
As a Division I prospect in a small town in a sports-crazy region he attracts enormous attention, good and critical. He said in a YouTube interview, by Slam Highlights, "My energy? A lot of people hate my energy. A lot of people say 'he's too cocky' or 'he's a thug' or I'm all these kinds of things, I've got behavioral issues and attitude problems. They don't know where I came from, bro."
"I've got to make everybody feel me. I've got to make everybody feel my energy."
Harrison's first trip to Autzen Stadium made a powerful impression. "Ohio State versus Oregon is the best college football game I ever watched. The energy, the vibes, everything in there was crazy," he said.
