Penn State tight end Andrew Olesh has committed to the Ducks, a five-star freshman who redshirted this year for the Nittany Lions.
A 6-5, 236 pass catcher did not play in his first year on a crowded depth chart. From Center Valley, Pennsylvania he was No. 3 tight end in the nation and No. 57 prospect overall according to the 247Sports Composite.
With Kenyon Sadiq projected to be a first-round pick in the NFL draft. although he hasn't announced a decision as yet, Olesh gives the offense the depth needed to run their two- and three-tight end packages with Jamari Johnson and Roger Saleapaga, two great blockers with good hands. Johnson emerged this year as a big-play guy in the offense.
Ducks maintain versatility at tight end
Olesh nabbed 53 passes for 973 yards as a junior at Southern Lehigh High, a coveted prospect who chose PSU originally over Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame and Oregon. In his senior year he caught 75 balls for 1,105 yards and 10 touchdowns, lining up at fullback to gain another 166 yards as a ball carrier.
When he came to Penn State, folks called him the next Tyler Warren because of his route-running and versatility, a big receiver with the speed to stretch the field vertically. Oregon's 2026 quarterback will have an exciting array of targets, and it might still be Dante Moore.
Oregon freshman Vander Ploog announced today that he's entering the transfer portal.
