Dillon Gabriel secured the backup quarterback job in Cleveland this week as the Browns traded Kenny Pickett to the Raiders and cut Tyler Huntley.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski announced the decision Tuesday, telling the media, "It’s such an all-encompassing evaluation. Everything the guys did in the games was important, but we also saw a lot of them out here in practice. How they are at their craft, and [Gabriel] is certainly someone we think is getting better and better."

Forty-year-old Joe Flacco remains the starter, a former Super Bowl Champion with the Baltimore Ravens. Fifth-round draft pick Shedeur Sanders made the roster as No. 3.

Gabriel's new job gives the Ducks four quarterbacks who are currently working in the NFL, starters Justin Herbert and Bo Nix plus Washington Commanders backup Marcus Mariota who is hampered by a sore Achilles tendon.

In Dallas, Traeshon Holden turned heads in camp with a strong preseason performance, but still became one of the last cuts by the Cowboys. The 6-3, 208 wide receiver caught 45 passes for 718 yards and five touchdowns for the Ducks last season.

He's likely to catch on with another team.

Terrance Ferguson and Tez Johnson made the roster for the Rams and Bucs after standout performances over the weekend, while Nikko Reed stuck with the Chargers, quite an achievement for an undrafted free agent.

The Browns waived Chase Cota on cutdown day. Third-round pick Jamaree Caldwell impressed in camp and he's sticking with the Los Angeles Chargers, though the team cut former Duck Trikweze Bridges.

Jeffrey Bassa made the Chiefs, and Johnny Mundt and Arik Armstead are still in the NFL, with the Jaguars. Dontae Manning, Brandon Johnson and Thomas Graham were cut today.
