Oregon football is back in action this weekend after beating Purdue 35-0 in Week 8. The Ducks are looking to improve to 8-0 on the year and end October on a high note while No. 21 Illinois will be headed to Eugene looking to pull off a mammoth upset.

Dan Lanning isn't just going to let that happen, though.

Illinois has had an interesting past month so far, hanging tight with Penn State on the road, beating bottom-dwelling Purdue 50-49 in overtime, and then handling Michigan 21-7 at home. The Illini can be really solid, but they're also wildly unpredictable. I see that extending into Week 9.

Before we dive into any specifics about the game, let's take a look at what EA Sports College Football 25 thinks will happen in Saturday's Oregon vs. Illinois matchup.

CFB 25 simulation results for Oregon football vs. Illinois

If these results hold up on Saturday, Duck fans would be ecstatic. According to EA Sports, Oregon will trounce Illinois to the tune of 51-25. The Ducks will out-gain Illinois 503-382 and they'll average 7.2 yards per rush and 7.5 per pass.

Just a dominant showing -- and much more high-scoring than anticipated -- from the Ducks.

Here are some key stats from the projected win:

Player

Stats

Dillon Gabriel

15-for-30, 225 yards, 2 TDs; 8 rushes for 30 yards, 1 TD

Jordan James

15 carries for 94 yards and 2 TDs

Noah Whittington

12 carries for 125 yards and 1 TD

Tez Johnson

7 catches, 140 yards, 2 TDs

Jeffrey Bassa

6 tackles

Brandon Johnson

6 tackles, 1 pass breakup

Matayo Uiagalelei

2 tackles, 1 sack

Nikko Reed

5 tackles, 2 interceptions

Dontae Manning

2 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries

Jabbar Muhammad

1 tackle, 1 interception

Atticus Sappington

3-for-4 on field goals, long of 49 yards

The game also has Jordan Burch playing and recording two sacks, but I left that off because I'm not sure that he's going to see the field this weekend (it's look like he won't).

A 51-25 win over a Top 25 team would be a nice resume-builder for the Ducks who would be just four wins away from running the table.
