Coming into the weekend, the Ducks were favored by as much as 24.5 points, but most times those high expectations can be a trap.
Before the season, when everyone looked at the Ducks' Week 2 matchup against Oklahoma State, everyone thought that it may end up being a trap game with the Cowboys' new-look roster. Oklahoma State instead lost to Tulsa in Week 1, and while it may kill the buzz for the game, Oregon needs to block out the rat poison.
Oregon opens as massive favorites against Oklahoma State
After a narrow win for the Oregon Ducks and a disappointing loss for Eric Morris' new team, a lot of the potential upset hype has been wiped away. Instead, Oregon opens as 22.5 point favorites over the Cowboys, while the total for the game is set at 57.5 points, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Dan Lanning likely loved the way the Boise State game played out, as he got to teach his team a lesson without losing. Oregon can't overlook any team, and if the Ducks are going to have a special season, you can't afford to drop a game in non-conference play with how strong the Big Ten is. If there's anything you can guarantee, it's that Dan Lanning will have this team focused in week 2.
While Oklahoma State lost, this team still has some of the ingredients that you need to upset an elite team like Oregon. The offense struggled in Week 1, but if Drew Mestemaker rebounds in Week 2, he has the talent to put up a ton of points on the Ducks' loaded defense. Add in that this is the first game Oregon will travel for, and there's some tough factors to overcome.
The best thing for the Ducks would be to go out and shut down Oklahoma State's offense and leave Stillwater with a big win. After this game, the Ducks get just one more dress rehearsal before Big Ten play, and Oklahoma State is the only Power 4 non-conference game the team gets. Winning is the most important thing, but you'd like to see the Ducks impose their will, and show they can handle business when they should.
