The Oregon Ducks are looking to start building their 2028 recruiting class after spending the Summer putting together what should be another top 5 class for Dan Lanning. Early in the 2028 recruiting cycle, some of the top prospects are flying off the board ahead of their Junior seasons of High School football.
Thus far, Oregon hasn't landed a commitment from a 2028 recruit, but there's also no reason to start panicking. This fall, as Oregon pushes for a National Championship, the Ducks will be one of the hottest programs in the Country, and top recruits will be flocking to Eugene to see the team in action.
Oregon builds on early momentum with elite defensive back Jordan Hicks
This season, when the Oregon Ducks host the Michigan Wolverines in a potential Top 25 matchup, elite defensive back recruit Jordan Hicks will be on the sidelines.
Mission Viejo (Calif.) four-star cornerback Jordan Hicks, the No. 15 rated player at his position in the 2028 class, has seven important game visits circled on his calendar.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Jordan Hicks ranks as the 194th ranked player in the Country, the 16th ranked safety in the class, and the 12th ranked player out of California. Rivals and 247 Sports differ on where Jordan Hicks will play at the next level, as he's listed as both a safety and a cornerback.
As things currently stand, Jordan Hicks is down to a final 8 including the Ducks in the mix for his commitment. The better news for the Ducks is that in May, Jordan Hicks told Rivals' Adam Gorney that the Ducks hold the early lead in his recruitment, and that Oregon is "setting the bar".

“I love it there, no doubt. Every time I go there it’s just great and I’d say they’re for sure setting the bar right now."

Recruiting Mission Viejo is going to be key for Oregon this recruiting cycle, as several top targets have emerged for the Ducks from the program. Alongside Jordan Hicks being a top defensive back target this cycle, Oregon's apparent top quarterback target, Josiah Boyd, plays for Mission Viejo, which could create a great package deal for the Ducks.
