Well, with a 35-7 deficit sitting in front of them, the Oregon Ducks weren't exactly sitting pretty as they faced the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers in the semifinal of the College Football Playoff.
With two fumbles, an interception, and only 65 yards to his name, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was having a game straight out of a nightmare, and even in-game commentator Greg McElroy couldn't hold back from voicing his opinion on the performance.
"With the Indiana Hoosiers, if you give them an inch, they take a mile," McElroy said. "Dante Moore's second mistake. Miscommunication with the back results in the fumble recovered by [Mario] Landino, and a couple plays later, Black pays it off to give them a two-score lead."
Dante Moore digs Oregon's CFP grave
Moore's first throw of the matchup, which was the first play of the entire game, resulted in a 25-yard pick-six for Indiana's defense.
On another offensive drive for Oregon, his throwing arm clipped the shoulder of running back Dierre Hill Jr., and he fumbled the ball, resulting in the Hoosiers recovering it and setting out for another touchdown drive.
On his third sack of the game, Moore fumbled the ball for a second time, and Indiana recovered it once again, heading to the end zone for a touchdown in just six plays.
Oregon was not itself during the first half: Moore was not himself in the first half, and the defense wasn't even itself in the first half. Meanwhile, Indiana played its best game of the season during the first 30 minutes of the semifinal matchup.
Atticus Sappington, the elite kicker for the Ducks, couldn't even make the buzzer-beating field goal kick at halftime to put another three points on the board for Oregon.
If the theme of the first half continued in the second, Indiana would move on to face the Miami Hurricanes. If the Ducks pulled off a miraculous comeback, they would head to the National Championship game, where they would face Oregon's former head coach, Mario Cristobal, and his Canes.
