Five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson has been one of Dan Lanning's prized possessions in his class of 2025 prospects. However, the long-time Oregon Ducks commit recently asked to be released from his financial aid documents for the team and announced that he would flip his commitment to the Florida Gators.
Wilson originally committed to the Ducks on Jan. 17, 2023, and visited the campus twice during the summer of 2024 – including an official visit to Eugene on June 21. The five-star wideout then put pen to paper and signed with Oregon on National Signing Day (Dec. 4, 2024).
However, Wilson is from Florida and was at the game when the Gators stunned the LSU Tigers. He then visited Florida's campus in Gainesville just two weeks before he signed with the Oregon Ducks.
These days, the National Letter of Intent is a thing of the past and most of the time, players are either signing a deal for NIL partnerships or they are applying for financial aid – whether it be an academic or athletic scholarship – on National Signing Day.

Despite Wilson's long-time commitment to Lanning and the Ducks, his flip to the Gators doesn't come as a huge surprise – even after National Signing Day.
Wilson goes to high school just two hours from the UF campus, compared to the cross-country journey he would have to make to get from Tampa Bay Tech High School all the way to the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.
Not to mention, Florida head coach Billy Napier, who was on a piping hot seat for most of the season, saved his future with the Gators with their wins over then-No. 22 LSU and the then-No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels
