Former Georgia CB Julian Humphrey eyeing the Ducks when he enters transfer portal
By Sam Fariss
The transfer portal is nearly open and Oregon head coach Dan Lanning is primed to bring in yet another wave of jaw-dropping talent for the Ducks' 2025 football roster. Most recently, current Georgia cornerback Julian Humphrey included Lanning and the Ducks as one of just five schools that he is considering for his next team.
Humphrey, who was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and is currently the top cornerback in the portal, had impressive in-game action for the Bulldogs over the last two seasons, amassing 21 total tackles and 5 pass deflections.
During the 2024 season, Humphrey played 131 snaps and allowed a minimal 2 pass receptions for a total of just 10 yards. When receivers lined up against Humphrey, quarterbacks earned a 42.4 Passer Rating when they targeted said wideouts.
Alongside the No. 1 Oregon Ducks under Humphrey's consideration are the No. 3 Texas Longhorns, No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide, No. 12 Miami Hurricanes, and Texas A&M Aggies. Humphrey is from Texas so the Horns and the Aggies would be his "hometown teams" yet many people online are projecting the cornerback to end up on Mario Cristobal's squad in Miami.
Humphrey is currently listed as 6-foot-0 and 190 pounds – right around the size of current Oregon defensive back Jabbar Muhammad who has been a star for the Ducks throughout the 2024 season.
The winter NCAA transfer portal officially opens on Monday, Dec. 9, and remains open until Saturday, Dec. 28. When a player chooses to enter the portal, he must inform his current program. The team would then submit any necessary information within 48 hours.
