Four-star safety in class of 2026 includes Oregon Ducks in his final six schools

Dan Lanning is a recruiting machine. From a top-three recruiting class in 2025 to high levels of interest from elite athletes in the winter transfer portal, the Oregon Ducks are looking to bring in one of the most impressive classes of players in program history.
Most recently, four-star safety from the class of 2026 Jireh Edwards shared that the Ducks were included in his final six schools under consideration.
Alongside the Ducks are the Auburn Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, Maryland Terrapins, and Tennessee Volunteers. The Volunteers and the Buckeyes will play each other in the first round of the College Football Playoffs and the winner will face the Oregon Ducks at the Rose Bowl Game in the quarterfinals of the CFPs.
Edwards, who is from Upper Marlboro, MD, included his home state team Terrapins in his final group of six schools. According to 247Sports, Edwards is the No. 3 safety in the class of 2026 and the No. 33 overall athlete in the nation – he is currently ranked as the No. 3 athlete coming out of Maryland.
247Sports marks Edwards as having a "warm" level of interest in the Terrapins and a "cool" level of interest in the Ducks as well as the four other programs on his list.
