Oregon had the fourth-most players drafted of any program in college football behind only Ohio State, Georgia and Texas, a school-record 10 with two No. 1 draft picks.
It was a stunning testament to the recruiting, development and evaluation that Dan Lanning and his staff are creating. This is truly That Team Out West:

The odds are long. Even after getting drafted, the odds are still long.
Just over a million kids play high school football.
73,000 make it to all of the levels of the NCAA.
Only 30% of those drafted make an NFL roster.
The average NFL career lasts 3.3 years. For some, a few weeks.
It is utterly marvelous to have a big dream and climb any part of this ladder. But the air goes out of the ball for every athlete at some point in the journey. Even the ones who achieve ultimate success have to face life after football.
While it's fascinating to follow their journey and witness the story of young men achieving great dreams, it's important to recognize the risks, the costs, and the responsibility to prepare them for everything that comes next.
Fan favorites like Jordon Scott and Tyrell Crosby made it to the pros, but when that ended, they had to take on the challenge of what comes after football. One of things that has to be appreciated about Dan Lanning is that he is at heart a teacher.
He constantly looks for the life lessons. He's 100% about football, loving the game and being committed to the game, but at the same time he's teaching these young men how to prepare themselves, set goals, and realize them.

That's a skill they can take into any field of endeavor, apply to any dream.
