An uncommon character became a celebrity on the University of Oregon campus as one student's pet duck emerged as a fan favorite over the last few years. Quacktavious, a white duck that resembled the Oregon mascot, became popular after being spotted around campus.

Quacktavious even made appearances at Autzen Stadium as the students brought the pet Duck to Oregon football games throughout the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Over the last year or so, Quacktavious became somewhat of an icon as he posed around campus, became a feature at (outdoor) athletic events, and captured the hearts of Duck fans across the country.

Quacktavious was initially a duckling, as all grown ducks once were, who lived in an Oregon dorm – Cresswell Hall at Mississippi State, to be exact. However, when his owner transferred to the University of Oregon, Quacktavious came along.

Following the announcement of Quacktavious' passing, Oregon fans took to social media to shared their sorrow over the loss of a legendary Duck.

Nearly a century before Quacktavious ever waddled onto the campus in Eugene, a group of fraternity brothers caught a duck in the nearby Mill Race and brought their new pet to a few football games, similar to the hilarious and brilliant stunt pulled by Quacktavious' owner.

Quacktavious was even used as a therapy animal following the 2024 election as he joined forces with baby goats and dogs on Oregon's campus during the days that followed. A white duck, officially known as a Pekin duck, is usually expected to live around 10-15 years. To put it simply, Quacktavious lived his years to the fullest.
