The college football season is rapidly approaching with Fall camps kicking off this week, and the games less than a month away. The lead up to the action at the end of the Summer is time filled with bold predictions, rankings reveals, and early award watchlists. Ahead of what’s expected to be an exciting season for the Oregon football team, the Ducks will be given a ton of rat poison in the lead up to the season.
Coming off back-to-back trips to the College Football Playoff, Oregon enters the season as one of the front runners for the National Championship. The Ducks getting Dante Moore back on campus for another season took the expectations from a trip back to the Playoff to a team with very few questions, and it led to Oregon being one of the most hyped teams of the offseason.

On Tuesday, USA Today unveiled the annual Preseason Coaches Poll with the Oregon Ducks debuting at No. 2, trailing only the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The ranking makes it clear that it’s truly now or never for this program, as this group of players looks like the most talented the Ducks have ever had. Dan Lanning has built a ton of momentum, and while everyone believes he’ll continue to trend in the right direction, it’s hard to get as many pieces in place as this team has.
Evan Stewart is back from injury and Dakorien Moore should only hit another level to help Dante Moore lead one of the best offenses in the Country. Jeremiah McClellan and Jamari Johnson are both ready to jump into starting roles, and have proven in spurts that they’re ready to become superstars. Pairing all the receiving talent with a stable of running backs, and the only question is the offensive line.
The defensive front may be one of the Nation’s best with Teitum Tuioti, A’Mauri Washington, Bear Alexander, Matayo Uiagalelei, and Nasir Wyatt all returning. The defensive backfield returns one of the best cornerbacks in the Country in Brandon Finney Jr while adding an elite safety in Koi Perich. The question will be if the linebacker play will be good enough to supplement the two massive strengths.
The Ducks have what it takes to win it all, and this season has to be the year the program finally reaches the mountain top. While the roster will be solid again next season, it’s impossible to replace a Dante Moore or A’Mauri Washington and upgrade right away. Everything is there for Dan Lanning, and if he’s ever going to get it done, the pressure is on for it to happen this season.
