Third on the depth chart behind Brandon Finney and Na'eem Offord, Jahlil Florence announced Sunday his intention to enter the Transfer Portal when it opens in January.

The 6-1, 195 redshirt junior started 9 games in 2023 before a torn ACL but Finney's emergence as one of the elite corners in the FBS made him a backup. In parts of three seasons he appeared in 22 games with 35 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 2 interceptions.

Florence was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 from Lincoln High School in San Diego, ranked the No. 83 prospect and No. 11 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite. He's no longer on the roster.

He suffered a knee injury against Washington in 2023 and during an extensive rehab the Ducks kept recruiting higher-rated cornerbacks who earned playing time with exceptional practice habits and preparation.

He's a good player and will start somewhere at the D-1 level. Finney has allowed the lowest passer rating in FBS this season through eight games, 11.8 and Oregon's pass defense ranks No. 1 in the country allowing a rating of 88.9 and 125 yards a game, only four touchdowns against nine interceptions all season.

Florence will have two seasons of eligibility left. On X he posted, "Good luck the rest of the season to my brothers."

The Ducks face two of the best passing offenses in the Big Ten in November, No. 1 USC on November 22 and at No. 4 Washington November 29. The Trojans throw for 302 yards a game.
