In a devastating update for the Oregon Ducks' roster, edge rusher Jordan Burch is likely to miss the team's matchup against Ohio State.
The first top-three matchup of the season was set as the Ducks and Buckeyes prepared for the Big Ten showdown in Eugene. As Oregon's players and fans flocked to Autzen Stadium, it was reported that Burch was unlikely to play.
Earlier this week, Burch suffered an unspecified injury during practice. Pete Thamel shared an update early Saturday morning from ESPN College GameDay:
“The biggest story of the day is the status of star Oregon defensive end, Jordan Burch,” Thamel said. “I’ve been told that his status is in flux for tonight’s game. He suffered a lower-body injury in practice on Thursday, and it’s uncertain if he’s going to play tonight. He’s obviously the Ducks’ leader in sacks and TFLs. It would be a huge blow If he can’t go against that Ohio State offense.”
So far this season, Burch has been a monster off of the defensive line for Oregon's opponents and has led the team in tackles for loss as well as sacks.
Jordan Burch stats through Week 6
- 7 solo tackles
- 12 assisted tackles
- 5 sacks
- 3 passes deflected
No 3. Oregon and No. 2 Ohio State are scheduled to kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT from Autzen Stadium
