Are the Oregon Ducks short-handed in the wide receiver department? No problem. Standout running back Jordon Davison has the Ducks rolling early with two straight touchdowns in the first quarter against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The two blistering scores pushed the true freshman's touchdown count to 10. Luckily for the Ducks, the weather was not an issue in Eugene like it was in Iowa City last week.

On the Ducks' first drive, quarterback Dante Moore took on the workload. After getting Oregon all the way down to the one-yard line, Davison was able to punch it in himself, putting the Ducks up 7-0. The Ducks were feeling good, and the Gophers needed to respond. The Oregon defense came to play as well, forcing the Golden Gophers to go three-and-out immediately.

Now gifted with an early second possession, Davison wasted no time getting back to work. It only took four plays to get the 14-0 lead, behind a 13-yard rush from Moore to get a first down. With the Ducks sitting in a good spot, Davison broke free for a 39-yard touchdown, his second rushing TD of the game.

Davison ended the quarter with 53 yards, an impressive start to a Friday night Big Ten battle. So far, Davison has run for 404 yards on 59 carries this year, averaging 6.8 yards per carry. Davison has only continued the trend of freshmen phenoms making big plays for Oregon this season. When the first quarter came to a close, the Ducks were up two scores behind the sizzling Davison.
