Josh Pate exercises constitutional right to be a waffling waffler

Josh Pate exercised his constitutional right to change his mind.

The host of "The Josh Pate College Football Show" predicted Indiana to cover earlier in the week, but as game time drew nearer and he dove deeper into the matchup, he's picking Oregon to win Saturday afternoon in Autzen over No. 7 Indiana. He also predicts the Ducks will cover the 7.5-point spread.

"Listen, I think Dan Lanning and company are going to take care of business here," Pate said.

"I had a change of heart. I am slamming the model shut on this game." Pate's computer says the game will be closer, citing Indiana's ability to create pressure on defense as well as their highly effective running game, which cranks out 268 yards a game.

Last season head coach Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers dominated a weak schedule to finish 11-2 make the playoffs, but they were blown out in two Top Ten matchups against Ohio State and Notre Dame, the teams that met for the national championship.

This year's Indiana team appears to be an upgrade. They're tougher defensively with tackle Tyrique Tucker and defensive end Kellan Wyatt plus All-American edge rusher Mikail Kamara.

Fernando Mendoza has been lethally efficient at quarterback, with the 6-5, 225-pound gunslinger rocketing up draft boards. Three dozen NFL scouts and GMs have booked flights to Autzen Stadium for the battle of two Heisman quarterbacks.
