Last weekend Terrance Ferguson got married to high school sweetheart Sophia Meyer at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Douglas County, Colorado with former Oregon teammates Dillon Gabriel, Jeffrey Bassa, Ty Thompson and Patrick Herbert in attendance.
Gabriel posted a photo from the reception on Instagram, writing, "To the Fergusons! ❤️ Everything about it was beautiful. It’s crazy how close we all got in just a year. What a time. Papa Ferg was absolutely killing it. The speech to the dance moves, unreal. Elevates everyone’s game. To Cheeto, Mai Mai, and Phillip, till next time. As always, more life, more every tinggg."
A second-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams, Ferguson leaves for training camp on July 24.
Meanwhile, Gabriel reported Friday to renew the position battle with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Shedeur Sanders in Cleveland. The Browns staff has praised Gabriel for his processing speed and ability to absorb football concepts.
Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees said, “You don’t ever really need to correct him twice. He won’t make the same mistake.”
After six years in college football and an NCAA-record 63 starts and 155 touchdown passes, the Heisman finalist seems comfortable learning the intricacies of pro ball on the fly.
He said at minicamp, “In this profession, I think there's a bunch of progression and regression. Just your ability to manage that as fast as possible, I think that allows you to create improvement at a faster pace.”
Neighbors, teammates and best friends at Oregon, Ferguson and Gabriel were part of a record 10 players drafted by the NFL in April, Ferguson in the second round, Gabriel in the third. Now they continue the hard work of sticking in the league and earning playing time.
