The month of August brings the excitement for football season to another level with Fall camps starting in college football and the start of Training Camp in the NFL. The biggest concern everyone has when their team returns to the field is getting a notification about one of their players suffering an injury.
After his stellar career at Oregon, the New York Jets opted to take tight end Kenyon Sadiq with one of their three 1st round picks, making him an exciting building block for the future. Jets fans were already given an injury scare when Sadiq needed hernia surgery in May, but all signs pointed toward him returning for Training Camp.
Oregon Rookie Kenyon Sadiq suffers setback in hernia recovery
On Tuesday, Kenyon Sadiq will miss his third straight practice of Training Camp, which led to head coach Aaron Glenn telling the media that the rookie tight end suffered a setback in his recovery.
"Sadiq as I said yesterday on the maintenance program, he had a little setback as we watched his exams so he'll be out a little bit. I can't tell you exactly how long right now, but I will let you know that at some point, but just expecting him to be out a little bit. He's working his way back."Aaron Glenn
The news is less than ideal for Jets fans and Kenyon Sadiq as Training Camp is so critical for a rookie with learning the playbook, building chemistry, and getting experience against a higher level of competition. It does sound like the setback isn't too serious which should allow Sadiq to return for the start of the season, but it would be great if he's back in time to play a Pre-Season game.
In his final season at Oregon, Kenyon Sadiq caught 51 passes for 560 yards and 8 touchdowns, averaging 11 yards per reception.
Aaron Glenn and the Jets have a lot riding on this season as another disastrous season could easily lead to a regime change. The Jets have stockpiled a ton of assets in the 2027 NFL Draft to help find the team it's quarterback of the future, and if the year doesn't go well, Glenn and his staff won't have the chance to find their franchise QB.
Kenyon Sadiq is going to play a massive role in trying to take this offense to the next level along with new quarterback Geno Smith. Sadiq and fellow 1st round pick Omar Cooper Jr will join Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson, giving the Jets all the weapons needed to turn this offense around. The issue for the Jets is now getting all 4 healthy, and keeping them healthy as it could determine the future of the team.
