It's the birthplace of college football and Oregon has never played there.
Saturday October 18 on the Big Ten Network at 3:30 p.m. PT, the Ducks travel to Piscataway, New Jersey for their first-ever game against Rutgers. College football began with a game between Princeton and the Scarlet Knights in nearby New Brunswick November 6. 1869, though modern fans wouldn't recognize the game played that day, a mass scrum with 25 players on a side, won 6-4 by Rutgers.
In all those years the Webfoots have never made the trip.
The 2025 edition of the Big Ten's oldest football team is 3-2 under head coach Greg Schiano, wins over Ohio, Miami of Ohio and Norfolk State, losses to Iowa and at Minnesota. The player to watch out for is quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, a 6-3 senior who has thrown for 1,399 yards and nine touchdowns.
The Greek Rifle has two dangerous receivers in KJ Duff and Ian Strong. Running back Atwan Raymond has piled up nine rushing touchdowns and 471 yards, 5.4 yards a carry.
Traveling 2,463 air miles the week after a Top Ten matchup, it's the kind of game that can trip a team up on a Saturday night, something fans have seen all over college football this year.
For now the Ducks have to keep their eyes completely focused on Indiana, the last Big Ten team to beat Oregon in Autzen Stadium back in 2004.
