Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy wants to win a war of words, or start one. Already it's Tuesday and he might want to move on to coaching football.

On an Oklahoma radio station he said on Monday, talking about Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, "He’s a good player. He’s a really good player. But there’s people around there, that feel like that they say he’ll be the best one to ever play there before he leaves. So it’ll cost them a lot of money to keep him.”

Is everything about money with you, Mike? If this were a wrestling match Gundy would be a legend for creating some of the best pre-match promos in history, sort of a reverse Ted DiBiase, who was known as The Million Dollar Man.

Gundy's going full throttle with a Poor House Gundy act, trying to create a distraction. So far it appears he's only distracting himself, but it's great theater.

The reality is that two court cases made NIL and revenue-sharing the law of the land in college football, and a century of greed and exploitation brought it about. The choices are to ante up, compete to win, or relegate to the FCS. Words won't win the line of scrimmage. They won't create an adjustment on the scoreboard.

The Cowboys went 0-9 in the Big 12 last season. Railing against the budget of this week's opponent won't add an asterisk to the record.

After the Montana State game Dante Moore said, "It's been two years, man, and it's just a blessing to be able to play here at the University of Oregon, in front of a great crowd and great fans. The best thing was just the way we moved the ball as a whole unit. Offense did a great job of, you know, protection-wise, we had a great run game."

Moore sounds pretty happy with his deal, his situation and his team. Gundy, not so much.
