This college football season began with Oregon being billed as one of the favorites to win the National Championship, coming off back to back trips to the College Football Playoff. Dan Lanning returned a roster filled with true superstars in the sport, headlined by Dante Moore, leaving the roster with very few positions of concern.
The biggest concern for Oregon on paper was the offensive line, as the Ducks had several starting roles to fill. The first sign that the Ducks were confident in the group should've been when A'lique Terry and Dan Lanning added only one transfer to the group: Yale transfer Michael Bennett III. The Ducks bet on their young talent stepping up, and the early returns are promising.
Oregon tackle Ziyare Addison is generating a ton of buzz after first start
When the Oregon Ducks took the field in the season opener, the question of who would start at left tackle was answered with Ziyare Addison taking the field. Addison was mostly an unknown, given that he only appeared in two games as a true freshman with just 4 snaps played. In the season opener, Ziyare Addison put his name on the map, and plenty are taking notice.
Against Boise State, Ziyare Addison played each of the 64 snaps for the Ducks, with PFF grading that he allowed 3 pressures. For his first start at left tackle, the results were incredibly promising, as he'll only get better with more experience in the games. Oregon fans aren't the only ones noticing that the staff may have a star at left tackle either, as scouts and analysts are also taking notice.
Former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Nate Tice previously spent time as both a scout and a coach after his playing career. Now as an analyst for Yahoo Sports, Nate Tice shared that he'll be keeping an eye on Ziyare Addison over the next few years, indicating that he sees NFL upside in the Ducks' starter.

Oregon signed Ziyare Addison as the 110th ranked player in the country, the 12th ranked offensive tackle in his class, and the 15th ranked player out of the state of Florida, beating out both the Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles for the commitment.
If Ziyare Addison can emerge as one of the best offensive tackles in the country, it would be a massive win for Oregon this year as well as into the future. Dan Lanning and A'lique Terry saw how expensive the market can get for elite offensive linemen this offseason when LSU bought Jordan Seaton in a battle the Ducks were in.
Ziyare Addison should be a Redshirt Freshman, but he's now in his second of 5 potential seasons under the new eligibility rules. If Addison proves to be among the elite at the position, he'll likely only be here one more season before heading to the NFL Draft, but it would buy more time for the coaching staff to build up the rest of the roster around him.
