Oregon only has two visitors scheduled for the opener against Montana State, high school teammates Dane Weber and Eli Woodward of Chaparral High School in Temecula, California.

A 2027 quarterback ranked No. 292 in the class by the 247Sports Composite and the No. 21 quarterback, Weber threw for 2,660 yards as a sophomore last season, 27 touchdowns, rushing for 834 more yards and 11 TDs.

He won the starting job in his first varsity season when senior Dash Beierly transferred to Mater Dei. In October the Pumas beat 2026 Oregon commit Bryson Beaver and Vista Murrieta, 55-28. Against Norco in November, Troy and Travis Dye's old school, Weber threw for 277 yards and six touchdowns to win 48-37.

For the season he completed 67 percent of his throws, a promising beginning for a 6-2, 210 sophomore, a good student with a 3.8 GPA.

Weber moves around well and he operates a high-volume passing offense. In April he picked up his first offer from Utah; South Florida offered a couple of weeks ago. He visited Kansas last weekend and said, “After the visit there, they’re extremely high for me. They definitely moved up after the visit.”

About Oregon he told Max Torres of On3, "My interest for Oregon is the rich tradition that bleeds through the university."

Weber and the Pumas opened play for his junior season with a 38-33 loss to San Juan Hills last week. He connected on 16-23 passes for 290 yards while rushing for 104 on 12 carries, two TDs through the air and two more on the ground.

Will Stein and the Oregon staff have zeroed in on three quarterbacks for 2027, Weber, Keegan Croucher of Chesire, Connecticut and Trent Seaborn of Alabaster, Alabama. Seaborn earned National Freshman of the Year from Maxpreps in 2023, completing 72 percent of his passes for 2,601 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Seaborn started on the varsity as an eighth grader and he's already won two Alabama State 7A Championships. Already the competition for the Oregon quarterback of the future is heating up.
