NFL Mock Drafts are already linking Dante Moore to the disaster he tried to avoid

Even with Kenyon Sadiq, the New York Jets could be a disaster for Dante Moore's future.

While Dan Lanning has picked up some big wins on the recruiting trail over the years, his biggest win may have come by way of player retention. After the loss in the Peach Bowl to Indiana, Dante Moore had a major decision to make over whether or not he'd enter the NFL Draft. In the end, Oregon was able to get Dante Moore back to Eugene for another season giving Oregon National Championship hopes.

Part of the reason for Moore's decision to return may have been a desire to get more starting experience. The other reason Moore may have returned was the fact that he would've been picked by the Jets 2nd overall which is less than ideal for any quarterback, especially under their current staff. While Dante Moore avoided the Jets this year, he may not be so lucky in the 2027 NFL Draft.

After the 2026 NFL Draft wrapped up, the 2027 NFL Mock Drafts instantly began as the class looks to be one of the best in a long time. Considering how high Dante Moore was projected in the 2026 NFL Mock Drafts, he's a constant in the top 5 of most mock drafts. The issue is that almost every mock draft keeps sending Dante Moore to the Jets.

  • PFF (Daire Carragher): 3rd Overall
  • Bleacher Report (Brent Sobleski): 3rd Overall

Landing with the New York Jets in the NFL Draft is almost a death sentence for any quarterback, unless you're lucky enough to get away and rehab your career like Sam Darnold. If the Jets finish with a top 3 pick, and retain this defensive minded coaching staff, it may be even more of a potential disaster.

There are a few upsides to landing with the New York Jets next season, but ideally it would come under a new head coach setting Dante Moore up for long term success. Being picked by the Jets would reunite Dante Moore with tight end Kenyon Sadiq giving the two a chance to grow together once again. The team does have a solid offensive line with promising weapons, but it almost never matters as the Jets find a way to mess it all up.
