No. 9 Texas lost today, 29-21 at unranked Florida, and that cleared the way for ESPN College Gameday to book a trip to Eugene for No. 8 Indiana at No. 2 Oregon next Saturday October 11.
The matchup of 5-0 Big Ten teams featuring Hoosier quarterback Fernando Mendoza vs. the Ducks' Dante Moore promises to be the matchup of the weekend, but ESPN traditionally has a soft spot for the Red River Rivalry and ranked teams from the SEC.
Instead, they're coming to the Emerald City for a break-of-dawn show on the UO campus. Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire notes that it's the Ducks' 34th appearance on the iconic college football show. They've compiled a 20-13 record over the years. It's the 13th time that Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and the Home Depot traveling road show has come to Eugene.
This trip will be a little bittersweet. While it's always great for the school and the program to get the exposure, this will be the first visit without The Coach, Lee Corso, who did his last show at the beginning of the season. The Oregon Duck will miss his old friend.
Next stop: Eugene, Oregon 🦆
