In Madrid it was a beginning of a new tradition, the running of the GOAT.

As the NFL invaded Europe for another weekend, Marcus Mariota gave international fans a thrill by breaking off a 44-yard run against the Miami Dolphins, showing off the speed and elusiveness that won him the 2014 Heisman Trophy.

Now they know too that aloha means touchdown.

With the score tied 13-13 in the fourth quarter, the Flyin' Hawaiian broke out of the pocket, weaving his way through the defense for his longest carry since an 87-yard touchdown in his rookie year with the Titans.

The drive ended with an incompletion on 4th and goal from the 1, however, and Miami won the game with a field goal in overtime when Dolphins cornerback Jack Jones picked off a pass intended for Zach Ertz.

Three straight runs set up a winning field goal by Riley Patterson, good from 29 yards.

For the game the three-year starter at Oregon connected on 20-30 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown as Washington fell to 3-8, nearly eliminated from the playoffs with eight games to go.

On Saturday Mariota will be inducted into the UO Hall of Fame. Whatever his struggles as a pro, he remains a legend and a beloved figure in Eugene
