The Oregon Ducks have been building up momentum on the recruiting trail over the past several weeks as Dan Lanning and the coaching staff continue to host official visits. The Ducks have made splashes on offense, landing tight end George VanSandt and wide receiver Malachi Garlington, as well as on defense with linebacker Toa Satele and edge rusher Achilles Reyna.

While the Ducks have landed several commitments, there's still plenty of work for the coaching staff to do as they build out this class. The staff has done a great job building up several position groups in this class, but one position is becoming a concern as dominos continue to fall around the country.

Defensive Tackle is becoming a major concern for the Ducks on the recruiting trail

If there's one position group that's starting to become a concern for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting trail, it's defensive tackle. Considering the fact that A'Mauri Washington and Bear Alexander are most likely off to the NFL after this season, the coaching staff is going to need to add a sizeable recruiting class and likely transfers.

Thus far, the Ducks haven't landed a defensive tackle commitment, and dominoes have started to fill against Oregon. This past week alone dealt several blows to the Ducks' hopes of landing several elite interior defensive linemen.

The bad spell started for the Oregon Ducks when elite defensive tackle Kasi Currie announced his commitment to Texas.

While Kasi Currie committing to Texas was bad news for Oregon, as he was already a top target for the Ducks, it also hurt because of the ties he has. Currie's High School teammates with 5-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou at Sierra Canyon, and the two potentially would play together at the next level.

The Ducks missing out on Kasi Currie likely cost them with Marcus Fakatou as the 5-star recruit named a final 3 of Georgia, Texas, and Ohio State, cutting Oregon out of the recruitment. The timing was unfortunate for the Ducks as Fakatou was set to visit Oregon this past weekend, and never made the trip.

The other top target Oregon is after on the interior defensive line is 4-star recruit Brayden Parks out of Illinois. Oregon is trying to beat out Notre Dame to land Parks, and after the Irish were also cut out of the race for Fakatou, the battle over Parks will only get tougher.

This weekend, Notre Dame hosted Brayden Parks on an Official Visit, which will give the Ducks pause as they hope to get him on campus next weekend for his Official Visit to Eugene.

The Ducks are now going to need to re-group after a shaky week on the recruiting trail on the defensive line to try and build a solid class. Every recruitment is far from over, and if Oregon is going to finish strong, it may take the coaching staff pulling off a flip that no one sees coming.
