Early Signing Period kicks off this morning at 6 a.m. PT and most of Oregon's 2026 commitments are expected to sign in a class that ranks No. 4 in the nation in the 247 Sports Composite, Dan Lanning's third straight Top Five class.
Nearly all of the Ducks' 19 commits are expected to sign, but one story to watch is 6-5 Bishop Gorman safety Jett Washington, who posted a story on Instagram of a recruiting photo with Tosh Lupoi during his visit.
It may be nothing, but it's something to monitor. Washington is an exceptional athlete, a cat-quick deep safety who plays downhill, ranges the field and hits people, one of the jewels of the class, 6-5, 205, one of four five-stars in a prospect haul that ranks No. 1 in the country in average rating per recruit
Dan Lanning's recruiting scorecard
Year | Class Rank |
|---|---|
2022 | 13th |
2023 | 9th |
2024 | 3rd |
2025 | 5th |
2026 | 4th |
The first class in 2022 was assembled on the fly. Lanning was hired just 10 days before the Early Signing Period and put it together quickly while still coaching the Georgia defense and putting together a staff.

Added together with Oregon's targeted portal recruiting, the Ducks are acquiring talent at a national championship level five cycles into the North Kansas City native's tenure. They don't lack for anything, but Washington is a key piece.
He's a gifted basketball player and a legitimate D1 prospect on the hardwood as well.
