He won't arrive on campus until after this season, but Tristan Phillips, the 6-4, 215 four-star linebacker from Ventura, California, is already playing with an edge like Bryce Boettcher or Jerry Mixon.
He's already flashed the Dubs down in his posts from workouts, and told subscription site "Scoop Duck" how much he's looking forward to his visit for the USC game.
Phillips admits to having a sour taste over how the local schools, USC and UCLA, slow-played his recruting. Also a high school basketball player who posted 80 tackles and an interception in 2024, he's the No. 331 prospect in the 2026 class and No. 22 linebacker according to the 247Sports Composite.
Mobile and athletic with the frame to play at 235-240, Phillips committed to the Ducks on December 7 last season and hasn't wavered.

In Friday's 38-21 win over Camarillo, he posted seven tackles and a tackle for loss, knifing in from his inside linebacker spot on a run blitz.
His aggressive and physical style makes him a great fit for the Oregon defense.
When he committed to the Ducks, Phillips told On3 Sports, “I was rooting for Oregon as a kid, then as time went on and I got into high school football, the dream became reality."
“Oregon has it all. What Oregon has to offer is unmatched. The training facility, the staff, the education, they have it all. What Oregon has as a whole and how they are building something special made me want to be a part of the program.”
The fact that he has a healthy animosity toward USC and Washington helps make him an ideal candidate to replace Bryce Boettcher as a pacesetter in the Ducks linebacker corps.

USC didn't have a hat on the table and he felt "offended" by how the Trojans recruited him.
