Oregon added their second Anthony Jones on Wednesday. This one is a four-star defensive lineman from Crean Lutheran in Irvine, California, originally committed to UCLA and DeSean Foster, not to be confused with Anthony "Tank" Jones, the five-star edge rusher from St. Paul's Episcopal in Mobile, Alabama, who signed with the Ducks on December 3rd.
Anthony "poppa" Jones 2 is a 6-5, 285 interior defensive lineman who helps add back some of the depth the Ducks lost in the Transfer Portal. He's played everything from nose tackle to edge as a high school player. The December 3 Jones is 6-4, 240, strictly an outside guy.
Poppa is a four-star at 247, a three-star at On3/Rivals ranked No. 473 in the 247Sports Composite. He plays center and power forward on the basketball team. HUDL highlights from multiple games of his senior year are available HERE.
A football team can never have too many Joneses or Tuiotis, particularly these
He's big and he's strong and he moves well. In one highlight he ranges out from defensive end to chase down a screen pass. In another he lines up inside, sheds a blocker and rips the ball out from the running back. In a third he takes two steps toward the quarterback, sees that it's a quick pass to his side, leaps up and bats the ball in the air, intercepted by a teammate.
Immediately it's evident that both Joneses have solid football instincts and a nose for the football. The obvious conclusion is Duck fans want both Joneses and any other Joneses that come available who play this way. A great teacher, Tony Tuioti will figure out a way to tell them apart, maybe call one Poppa and the other Tank. Or just say, "Nice play, Son," which is also problematical, since son Teitum plays on the other end of the defensive line.

The significant part is that the Ducks have two Joneses and two Tuiotis, which is enough to keep beating Washington and winning nearly every game on their schedule.
