The Oregon Ducks have put together an impressive Summer on the recruiting trail as Dan Lanning and the staff start to build out this recruiting class. The Summer has elevated Oregon's recruiting class to 9th in the country as the Ducks are now up to 19 commitments. Thus far, Oregon hasn't been just about making the splash commitments, but the Ducks have also added some great pieces to develop.
As a recruiting dead period is now in effect through the month of July, Oregon will hopefully benefit from the calendar slowing down. The Nation's top recruits will now make their decisions in the weeks to come, and Oregon is in prime position to add a flurry of commitments.
Oregon adds to offensive line class with California Native Lex Mailangi
On Wednesday, Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks struck again, landing a commitment from 3-star offensive line recruit Lex Mailangi.
The Oregon Ducks got the final official visit from Lex Mailangi, hosting him this past weekend, and it clearly paid off for the Ducks. Mailangi also took official visits to SMU and in-state programs Cal and UCLA, but in the end, Dan Lanning and the staff were able to win out for the commitment.
According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Lex Mailangi is the 709th ranked player in the country, the 54th ranked interior offensive lineman in the class, and the 59th ranked player out of California.
Last recruiting cycle, Oregon signed some of the top offensive line recruits in the country, but they also only signed 3 players in the group. This recruiting class was always going to need to focus on quantity on the offensive line, and thus far, A'lique Terry has delivered. While transfers are great, the offensive line is best built through the high school ranks.
Lex Mailangi joins a loaded offensive line class for the Ducks that only continues to grow with each week. 4-star recruits Gus Corsair and Cameron Wagner headline the group while 3-star Avery Michael and now Mailangi bring a ton of promise.
The run on the offensive line may not even be over for the Ducks as Dan Lanning and A'lique Terry have Oregon in the mix for several other top recruits. 4-stars Ismael Camara or Caden Moss would be dream additions along with a player like Gecova Doyal while other targets could quickly emerge once their Senior season kicks off.
